'This N.C.O. displayed great courage and coolness during the attack near MORLANCOURT, South West of ALBERT on the 28th/29th July 1918, while in charge of carrying parties. His work necessitated crossing and recrossing many times from the Main Battalion Dump (which was situated some little distance in rear of our original front line) to the captured enemy line. This work had to be done through the enemy barrage at great personal risk, nevertheless this N.C.O. continued his task and was instrumental in getting forward ample supplies of S.A.A. water, etc.'
