Wounded in action, 11 April 1917 (gun shot wound, back and arm), and admitted to 49th Casualty Clearing Station; thence to 9th General Hospital, Rouen. Transferred to England, 17 May 1917; admitted to 4th Southern General Hospital, 18 May 1917. Transferred to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 22 August 1917. Discharged to No. 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 27 August 1917.

Commenced return to Australia on board HMAT A30 'Borda', 26 September 1917; discharged, 6 December 1917.
