Embarked Melbourne on HMAT ‘Runic’, 20 June 1916; disembarked Plymouth, England, 10 August 1916; marched into 2nd Training Bn, Perham Downs, 15 September 1916. Proceeded overseas to France, 15 September 1916; marched into 1st Australian Divisional Depot, Etaples, 17 September 1916; moved into the field, 28 September 1916; taken on strength of 7th Bn, 29 September 1916.

On leave, 19 July 1917; rejoined unit from leave, 28 July 1917.

Detached for duty with 1st Australian Field Company Engineers, 6 January 1918; rejoined unit from detachment, 14 January 1918; detached for duty with 1st Divisional Headquarters, 15 March 1918; rejoined unit from detachment, 29 March 1918.

Admitted to 3rd Australian Field Ambulance, 30 June 1918; transferred to 58th Casualty Clearing Station, 30 June 1918 (influenza); discharged to duty, 6 July 1918; rejoined unit in the field, 7 July 1918.
