Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry in action East of RONSSOY on the 29th September, 1918. On three separate occasions this soldier in full view of the enemy went out from cover and under intense machine gun fire brought back wounded comrades. During the ensuing two days, his coolness and courage were most marked and were a source of inspiration to all around him.'
