Military Medal 'During the operations West of BELLENGLISE on the 18th/19th September, 1918 for splendid work as a runner. He repeatedly passed through heavy shell and machine gun fire carrying important messages. On one occasion he was blown up by concussion from a bursting shell but carried on. He also acted as guide to ration parties and was of wonderful assistance to his Company.'
