Statement, Red Cross File No 30405, 3084 Lance Corporal W.J. DELANEY, 59th Bn (patient, Grove Military hospital, London), 15 March 1917: 'Informant states that on the 19th July, 1916, at 4.50 p.m. Affleck was seen by him to be shot in the abdomen, and most likely killed during a charge at Fleurbaix in France. Affleck was a personal friend of informant.'
