Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When nearly all his officers and non-commissioned officers had become casualties he continued to direct and control the fire of his guns with such good effect that repeated enemy counter attacks were driven off and the advance of the infantry was greatly assisted. His courage and determination under most difficult conditions were a splendid example to all.'
