Military Medal 'On 2nd Sept. 1918, near CLERY-sur-SOMME, these two drivers were driving an ammunition wagon carting ammunition to the battery position, which at the time was being very heavily shelled as also was the position at which the ammunition was being loaded. Although the loading party had evacuated the position on account of the shelling, these drivers loaded their own wagon and continued the supply of ammunition, although continually under shell fire. In so doing they exhibited splendid courage and devotion to duty and set a fine example to all.' Recommendation date: |
