War service: Egypt, Gallipoli, Western Front Wounded in action, 6 August 1916 (gun shot wound, shoulder). Wounded in action (second occasion), 8 June 1917 (gun shot wound, left shoulder). Tried by Field General Court Martial, 27 July 1917. Found Guilty of using insubordinate language; sentenced to 21 days' Field Punishment No 1. Admitted to hospital, 31 July 1918; discharged to Base, 4 October 1918; total period of treatment for venereal disease: 66 days. Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Kashmir', 9 March 1919; discharged (demobilisation), Hobart, 28 June 1919.
