Military Medal 'For great gallantry and devotion to duty near VILLERS-BRETONNEUX on 3rd May, 1918. During the attack he went forward, found out the positions of the Companies and took back a report to Battalion Headquarters. Then again he went forward through the terrible machine gun fire with messages to the Companies. Later on in the morning Private JARVIS again was sent out with a special message warning Companies of the massing of enemy troops. On the way he was very seriously wounded and nearly unconscious but he bravely struggled on and delivered his message being so weak from loss of blood that he had to be carried out to the R.A.P. Throughout the day Private JARVIS was magnificent and his bravery and devotion to duty were beyond all praise.'
