War service: Western Front Embarked from Alexandria, Egypt, to join the British Expeditionary Force, 6 June 1916; disembarked Plymouth, England, 16 June 1916. Taken on strength, 29th Bn, France, 28 September 1916. To hospital, sick (chilled feet), 28 November 1916; to 8th Ambulance Train, 29 November 1916. Discharged fit to duty, 6 December 1916. Found guilty of disobeying a lawful order, 4 January 1917: awarded 14 days' Field Punishment No. 2.
