Military Medal

'For continuous service and devotion to duty during the period 16th/17th September, 1918, to 11th November, 1918. As N.C.O. in charge of the Battalion Aid Post, Corporal JOHSNON has shown marked ability and tact in the handling and clearing of wounded. He has served continuously in the Medical Section of the Battalion since April 1916, both as a bearer and later as N.C.O. in charge, and his work has at all times been of an excellent nature and his coolness and courage under extremely heavy fire was most praiseworthy.'

Meritorious Service Medal

'Corporal JOHNSON is the N.C.O. in charge of the A.M.C. details, and has been untiring in his efforts to assist the Medical Officer on all occasions. He has participated in all operations and with the R.M.O. has frequently attended to the wounded in the open under heavy shell fire, in order to cope with the rush of cases. His conduct is exemplary and his bravery unquestionable.'
