Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and resource near Lihons on the 11 August, 1918. This warrant officer took a patrol twice through enemy territory to locate the unit on the flank. In spite of being fired at, he returned with valuable information. Later, taking a Lewis gun he surprised the enemy, and contributed largely to the breaking up of their counter attack.'
