Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and resource near Peronne on 5 September, 1918. Accompanied by one man, this N.C.O. crawled forward to investigate the strength of machine gun positions that were impeding the advance of his company. Having discovered one, he rushed it with his companion, killed three of the garrison and brought back a prisoner.'
