Embarked Alexandria, 6 June 1916; disembarked Plymouth, England, 16 June 1916, and marched into 8th Training Bn.

Proceeded overseas to France, 5 September 1916; marched in to 5th Australian Division Base Depot, 6 September 1916; taken on strength, 29th Bn, 22 September 1916.

Admitted to 15th Australian Field Ambulance, 10 February 1917 (septic sores); discharged to duty, 19 February 1917.

On leave, 2 September 1917; rejoined unit from leave, 16 September 1917. On leave in France, 20 September 1918; rejoined unit from leave, 3 October 1918.

Transferred to 32nd Bn, 12 October 1918.

Proceeded on English leave, 29 October 1918; rejoined unit from leave, 18 November 1918.

Embarked for England for Non Military Employment, 27 March 1919. Granted leave with pay only from 1 April-1 July 1919; reason: surgical bootmaker, attending W. Aldons, 117 Beulah Road, Thornton Heath, Croydon, Surrey. Subsistence of 37/- per week subsequently approved for period 1 April-1 July 1919.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Argyllshire', 1 August 1919; disembarked Melbourne, 22 September 1919; discharged, 31 December 1919.

Miss M Brady, Chatsford, 3 Connor Street, Geelong, Victoria, wrote to Base Records, 22 May 1917: 'Can you give me any information regarding Number 2940 Pte Fred Kingston, 29th Battalion. He left Australia with the 6th Reinforcements of 29th Battalion on April 4.16. As I have had no word from him, since January last, I am feeling anxious.'
