Military Medal 'During the attack on SUNRAY Trench by 29th Battalion on 2nd March, 1917, the Nos. 1 and 2 of a bombing team became casualties just before the enemyUs block was reached. A call was made for a bayonet man and Private KLUG responded. He jumped over the block, and, though he at once encountered fierce opposition, bayoneted his first opponent and opened rapid fire on the remainder, forcing them to retire. At this point he was wounded and put out of action. Private KLUGUs action at this critical moment was much commented on by his comrades and enabled the advance to continue.'
