'In the attack near BULLECOURT on the 11th April, 1917, was in a bombing section and was a rifle grenadier. He assisted in beating off the German counter attack down the communication trench from RIENCOURT with Corporal Patton (now wounded). He then attacked the Germans and drove them back about 400 yards by the skilful use of rifle grenades. inflicting very heavy losses on their bombing parties. he assisted in putting in a bomb stop and remained to the last beating off two determined attacks and retiring only when the last bomb was thrown. Knight had great difficulty in getting clear of the German lines but refused to surrender although frequently called upon to do so. He rendered most useful service.'
