'Near YPRES on 4/5th October, 1917 as a stretcher bearer, Pte. LEE displayed great courage and devotion to duty. Under heavy shell fire he attended wounded men and conveyed them to a place of safety. He was persistently sniped at and warned of his danger but carried on and saved many lives.'
