Military Medal 'At NOREUIL on 2nd April, this man as a Lewis gunner was on the right flank under extremely heavy rifle and machine gun fire, and although every other member of the gun crew as a casualty he continued to work his gun with great coolness and determination throughout the action, this set an inspiring example to his comrades and played a big part in holding the line.'
