War service: Western Front Proceeded overseas to France, 25 July 1916; taken on strength, 25th Bn, in the field, 8 August 1916. Wounded in action, 14 November 1916 (gun shot wound, right thigh); admitted to 36th Casualty Clearing Station, 17 November 1916, and transferred same day to Ambulance Train; admitted to 11th Stationary Hospital, Rouen, 19 November 1916; transferred to England, 22 November 1916, and admitted to 2nd Southern General Hospital, 22 November 1916. Transferred to 3nd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 28 November 1916; discharged on furlough, 15 January 1917, to report to No 4 Command Depot, Wareham, 30 January 1917. Admitted to 1st Australian Dermatological Hospital, Bulford, 12 February 1917; discharged, 4 April 1917; total period of treatment for venereal disease: 52 days. Marched out to No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 8 October 1917.
