War service: Western Front Embarked Sydney, 17 November 1916; disembarked Devonport, England, 29 January 1917; marched in to 9th Training Bn, 21 Febnruary 1917. Found guilty, 13 February 1917, of being absent without leave at Durrington Camp from midnight, 8 February, untril apprehended at 8.30 pm, 9 February 1917: awarded 7 days' confined to barracks, and forfeited 1 day's pay. Found guilty, 13 November 1917, of at No 13 Camp, Fovant, being absent without leave from 4 pm, 8 November 1917, to 7 pm, 12 November 1917: awarded 14 days' Field Punishment No 2, and forfeited a total of 19 days' pay. Admitted toFovant Military Hospital, 17 Augusat 1918 (influenza); discharged to Training Depot, 8 November 1918. Marched in to No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 30 November 1918. Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Argyllshire', 9 December 1918; discharged, 16 April 1919. Re-enlisted, 11 June 1919, as 85948, Private, Special AIF.
