Statutory declaration, made at Murray Bridge, South Australia, 28 October 1917: 'I am an American subject born at the City of Mobile, Alabama, USA, on the 11th of June 1898. My parents are both dead, my sister a nurse in the French Legion was killed on Active Service in France and my only other Brother was killed in France later. I have no other relatives, and offer my self for service in the A.I.F. with a desire to obtain revenge for their loss.' War service: Egypt, Western Front Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Ascanius', 9 February 1919; disembarked Adelaide, 21 March 1919; discharged (medically unfit: gas poisoning), Adelaide, 22 April 1919. Granted a war pension; pension cancelled as from 22 November 1919 on acount of his failure to report for a medical examination; whereabouts unknown until he wrote to Base Records, 17 March 1925, with particulars of his address in Mobile, Alabama.
