Military Medal 'On 21.9.17 while stationed at right R.A.P. near WESTHOEK during heavy enemy shelling, in which some of the Regimental stretcher bearers were killed and wounded, word was brought in that a man had been hit. This N.C.O. with 2 others dashed out through the barrage and succeeded in bringing the wounded man in, undoubtedly saving his life. While carrying out this act of gallantry. Lance Corporal Berry was severely wounded and was dressed and carried in under heavy shell fire. This N.C.O. was previously mentioned in dispatches on 8.12.16 for special good work.'
