Embarked Sydney, 11 November 1916; disembarked Devonport, England, 30 January 1917; marched in to 14th Training Bn, Hurdcott, 1 February 1917.

Admitted to 1st Australian Dermatological Hospital, Bulford, 20 February 1917; discharged to Command Depot, 14 April 1917; total period of treatment for venereal disease: 54 days.

Found guilty, Hurdcott, 14 July 1917, of being absent without leave from 6 am, 10 July, till noon, 12 July 1917: admonished, and forfeited 3 days' pay under Royal Warrant.

Proceeded overseas to France, 12 October 1917; taken on strength, 56th Bn, in the field, 26 October 1917.

Admitted to 14th Australian Field Ambulance, 29 March 1918 (influenza), and transferred to No 3 Canadian Stationary Hospital; to 7th General Hospital, St Omer, 30 March 1918; to England, 1 April 1918, and admitted to 1st Birmingham War Hospital, Rednal; transferred to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 8 May 1918; discharged on furlough, 13 May 1918, to report to No 4 Command Depot, Hurdcott, 27 May 1918.

Admitted to Camp Isolation Hospital, Hurdcott, 28 May 1918; discharged, 8 June 1918.
