Military Medal 'During the attack on the 11th August, 1918 against RAINECOURT, East of AMIENS, this man rendered valuable assistance and showed excellent courage and presence of mind in dealing with an enemy machine gun position. Whilst advancing his platoon encountered this hidden ground from which a sudden burst of fire opened causing confusion and casualties to our men. He was on the right of the platoon and standing upright brought "hosing" fire to bear on the post with his Lewis gun, putting the enemy gun out of action and enabling the platoon to push forward.'
