Medaille militaire (France) 'During the attack on LIHONS on the 11th August 1918 Sergeant PEATEY was in charge of a platoon. When his Company was held up by machine gun fire from a strong enemy position, finding it impossible to outflank the position, Sergeant PEATEY led a few men in a bold frontal rush at the enemy. Inspired by this example the whole company charged and carried the position which contained eight machine guns, Sergeant PEATEY's act undoubtedly saved the situation and throughout the engagement his courage and energy were worthy of the highest praise.'
