Military Medal 'For gallant conduct near ALBERT on April 3rd 1918, when during an enemy attack, some of our own men's eagerness to meet the enemy had led them too far forward masking the fire of the platoon Lewis gun. Private Pickrill stood up on the embankment, amid a hail of enfilade enemy machine gun fire, and fired his Lewis Gun from the shoulder causing heavy casualties to the enemy and covering his comrades advance.'
