Military Medal 'On the 12th August, 1918, near PROYART while his Battalion, without artillery protection, was advancing by means of patrol fighting, he carried back information from a forward post, crossing 400 yards of open country swept by machine gun fire and a heavy enemy bombardment and although severely wounded refused to relinquish his task until his message had been delivered. He set a fine example of courage, fearlessness and devotion to duty.'
