Found guilty, 4 March 1916, damaging his rifle to the extent of 3/-: admonished and ordered to pay 3/-.

Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 22 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 28 March 1916.

On leave to England (date not recorded); found guilty, 24 June 1916, of (1) failing to report at Waterloo Railway Station at 4 pm, 18 June, for return to France; (2) being absent on 21 and 22 June 1916: awarded 168 hours' Field Punishment No 2, and forfeited 2 days' pay; Police Court expenses: 2/-.

Found guilty, 10 July 1916, of drinking in Grand Bar, Quai du Port, Marseilles, at 4 pm, during prohibited hours, 8 July 1916: awarded 48 hours' Field Punishment No 2.

Proceeded to England, 15 July 1916; rejoined 2nd Bn, in the field, Belgium, 8 September 1916.

Killed in action, France, 9 April 1917.
