Military Medal 'For consistent good work and devotion to duty during attacks on the enemy trenches at GUEUDECOURT on the morning of 21st February, 1917 and the night of 22nd/23rd February, 1917. He was a member of a Lewis gun Team and sent out in "No mans Land" to cover our attack and did excellent work. At the time of the second attack Private BLUNDEN was suffering from very bad feet and the Non Commissioned Officer in charge of the gun wanted to substitute another man. Private Blunden however insisted in taking part in the attack. Notwithstanding the very heavy state of the ground he stuck to his gun until relieved in the morning. This man by his courage and determination when he was practically unfit, set a splendid example to the remainder of the gun crew.'
