War service: Western Front Embarked Melbourne, 28 February 1918; disembarked Liverpool, England, 20 April 1918, and marched in to 14th Training Bn, Codford. Proceeded overseas to France, 8 July 1918; taken on strength, 57th Bn, in the field, 24 July 1918. Detached for duty to 15th Infantry Brigade Headquarters, 5 August 1918; rejoined Bn from detachment. Wounded in action, 30 September 1918 (gun shot wound, thigh), and admitted to 8th Field Ambulance, and transferred to 50th Casualty Clearing Station; to Ambulance Train No 19, 1 October 1918, and admitted to 74th General Hospital, Trouville, 2 October 1918; transferred to No 1 Australian Convalescent Depot, Havre, 14 October 1918; to Base Depot, Havre, 15 February 1919; to 3rd Australian Reception Camp, Havre, 19 February 1919. Marched out to England, 10 June 1919. Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Ulysses', 23 July 1919; disembarked Melbourne, 2 September 1919; discharged (termination of period of enlistment), Melbourne, 25 September 1919.
