Military Medal 'During the operations of 26th September 1917, at Polygon Wood this Lance Corporal was attached to the 56th Battalion as Intelligence Policeman and rendered valuable services in securing information about the enemy. he went over with the attacking waves and searched the dugouts in his sector and secured a quantity of intelligence material which he despatched to the rear. This proved to be of great value. Lance Corporal ROLFE showed great initiative and devotion to duty throughout the fight, and on hearing that two other Intelligence Policeman had become casualties undertook the searching of all dugouts in their sectors. This devotion to duty resulted int he securing of useful information about the enemy of immediate value. Lance Corporal ROLFE continued his work although slightly wounded.'
