Military Medal 'For distinguished conduct and devotion to duty during attack on HINDENBURG LINE on the 11th April near REINCOURT. He assisted in bandaging and tending our wounded who lay amongst the enemy barbed wire and although this was subjected to heavy machine gun fire he worked right through the whole day tending the wounded and bearing them back to the Dressing Station. All through he did magnificent work and was only forced to desist when the Germans refused to allow our Stretcher Bearers to carry away any more of the wounded. His work undoubtedly saved many lives.'
