Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty near Hebuterue from 28th March to 6th April 1918. this man rendered most, valuable service in maintaining communication under heavy enemy fire of all descriptions day and night, they continually patrolled the wires and mended the breaks under heavy shell fire in the village and exposed to enemy snipers and machine guns forward of the village. On no occasion did he fail in his task and it was largely due to his tireless energy and complete disregard for danger that the forward and lateral lines from Battalion Headquarters were so excellently maintained.'
