Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry in an attack on enemy Strong Point and trenches at GUEUDECOURT on the morning of 21st February, 1917. He was always to the fore in a hand to hand encounter along the trench and was one of the first party whose splendid dash and determination overcame all opposition. When the trench was captured he remained at the block and gave great assistance in repelling an enemy counter attack.'
