Distinguished Conduct Medal 'At Lihon, on 9 August, 1918, under heavy fire, he reconnoitred the front line, and returned with valuable information. On 23 August, he took charge of a Lewis gun section and established a post. Later, he worked as a linesman, repairing the wires for 48 hours under heavy gas shelling.'
