Military Medal 'Near Mouquet Farm on 3rd September, 1916, the hostile artillery concentrated very accurately on a communication trench, causing many casualties. In spite of the shellfire this stretcher-bearer went bravely in and attended to the wounded. His splendid example steadied other men and encouraged them to assist in the dangerous work. The rapid clearance of the communication trench was largely due to the prompt action of Pte. Stacey.'
