Brigade came under very heavy enemy shell fire, and an almost constant barrage existed between the O.P. and cable head. No. 3903 Gunner V.E. STEWART, 114th Battery, who was a signaller with the F.O.O. went out continually into the barrage to repair the line. By his bravery and devotion to duty he set a fine example.'
