Transferred to 1st Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, 5 March 1917. Discharged and granted furlough, 15 March 1917, to report to No. 1 Command Depot, Perham Downs, 30 March 1917.

Proceeded overseas to France, 14 October 1917; taken on strength, 28th Bn, 20 October 1917.

Admitted to 7th Australian Field Ambulance, 7 May 1918 (pyrexia, unknown origin); rejoined unit, 6 June 1918.

Found guilty of being absent without leave, 27-30 September 1918: awarded 28 days' Field Punishment No. 2 and forfeiture of 32 days' pay. On leave to England, 16 January 1919; rejoined unit, 11 February 1919.
