Proceeded overseas to France, 3 May 1917; taken on strength, 10th Bn, 22 May 1917.

Admitted to 17th Casualty Clearing Station, 3 November 1917 (pyrexia, unknown origin); transferred to 18th General Hospital, Camiers, 6 November 1917; discharged to Base Details, 29 November 1917 (influenza); rejoined unit, 7 December 1917.

Proceeded to X Corps Signal School, 17 January 1918. Admitted to New Zealand Reinforcements Field Ambulance, 28 February 1918 (pyrexia, unknown origin); rejoined unit from hospital, 11 June 1918.

Wounded in action, 28 June 1918 (gun shot wound, arm and face); admitted to 83rd General Hospital, Boulogne, 29 June 1918.
