Military Medal 'After a demonstration against enemy postion in CELTIC WOOD east of YPRES made by his Company on 9 October 1917 Cpl. WILLIAMS remained with and bandaged 8 wounded men in a shell hole in the wood. When darkness came he crawled into the front line and obtained assistance and led a carrying party to and brought back the 2 men into safety. His courage and determination beyond doubt saved his comrades from either perishing from their wounds or being captured by the enemy.'
