Military Medal 'At ARMENTIERES on the night 26th/27th February, 1917, on the occasion of a raid by a Composite Battalion of his Brigade on the enemy trenches, he acted as No. 1 in the leading Lewis Gun team of his Assaulting Company. Several of his team were wounded but he stuck to his gun under a heavy enemy barrage, covering the entry of his comrades into the enemy's trenches, and continuing at his work in the same place covering the retirement of the greater portion of his Company to our lines. Private WILLINGHAM was the last man of his Company to quit No Man's Land. He had previously shown conspicuous bravery when in action '
