Military Medal 'For devotion to duty as a stretcher bearer during an enemy attack on our lines on April 3rd near ALBERT. During a heavy enemy bombardment prior to an attack Private BURDON did exceptional good work. His Company had sustained many casualties and he repeatedly carried the wounded to places of safety, climbing up and down a steep muddy embankment through artillery and Machine Gun fire until completely exhausted.'
