Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during recent operations on 30th August - 5th September 1918. This soldier was acting as a driver in the Battalion Transport showed devotion and total disregard of personal safety. On the night of 2nd September 1918 the roads to PERONNE were being heavily shelled and point to which this soldier was taking battalion rations was heavily shelled, despite this he persevered in bringing his team and limber across most difficult country and finally reached ration point. Whilst carrying out his duty he was suffering from effects of gas and concussion of high explosive shells. His coolness throughout was most exemplary.'
