Military Medal 'On the 12th October 1917, East of YPRES, he displayed conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in action. This N.C.O. was in charge of a Signal Station, and showed utter fearlessness and great initiative in carrying out his work. Under very heavy fire, he maintained communications and on his own initiative made several reconnaissances, collecting information of value which he sent back to his company Commander and which helped greatly towards clearing up an obscure situation.'
