'For conspicuous and exception al devotion to duty during a heavy enemy barrage on our positions near ALBERT April 6th, 1918. Telephonic communication being cut, Private Andrews, Battalion Scout, volunteered to go forward through an intense barrage and obtain information from the front line. He did this, running the greatest of risks and brought back valuable information which cleared the situation.'
