Military Medal 'At HERLEVILLE, East of AMIENS, on the 17th August, 1918, this man, acting as first Bomber, showed great dash and courage when an enemy bombing party was encountered. After his Bayonet Man was wounded, he led his party in the face of heavy bombing and drove the enemy back, inflicting many casualties. When enemy counter attacked later, he again led the party and drove the enemy back inflicting further casualties. This man by his dash throughout the operation infused a splendid spirit into the men of his party and was largely instrumental in the success of the local operation.'
