Military Medal 'At PLOEGSTEERT on the night 29th/30th April, 1917, on the occasion of an enemy raid under cover of a very severe bombardment of our trenches, this man was observing for a Lewis gun team. A shell explosed in the bay alongside him wounding two members of the team and scattering the rest. COX took charge of the gun, and without any asistance kept up a continuous fire until the bombardment was over, inflicting many casualties on the enemy. His work was most commendable.'
