Military Medal

'Near BONY, from 29th September to 1st October 1918, this man rendered splendid service as a Company stretcher bearer. Under continuous artillery and machine gun fire, he tendered wounded and carried them back to the R.A.P. On one occasion, he dressed the wounds of four men and carried them to safety under direct rifle and machine gun fire. His devotion to duty and determination throughout the operations were most marked.'
