War service: England Embarked Fremantle, 29 January 1917; admitted to ship's hospital at sea, 24 February 1917 (venereal disease); disembarked Devonport, England, 27 March 1917. Admitted to 1st Australian Dermatological Hospital, Bulford, 28 March 1917; transferred to Parkhouse Military Hospital, 12 April 1917; discharged from hospital, 14 April 1917; total period of treatment for venereal disease: 50 days. Marched into 11th Training Bn, 18 April 1917. Found guilty, 1 June 1917, of, at Bulford, an offence to the prejudice of good order and military discipline: (1) urinating in the lines; (2) being out of camp after Tattoo: awarded 4 days' Field Punishment No 2, and forfeited 4 days' pay. Found guilty, 9 July 1917, of being absent without leave from midnight, 6 July, to 4.30 pm, 8 July 1917: awarded 7 days' confined to barracks, and forfeited 2 days' pay under Royal Warrant. Marched out to No 2 command Depot, Weymouth, 2 October 1917, for return to Australia.
